MISSIE

MISSION

At LE ROC BRANGUS all our cows graze on natural grass all through the year.

The cow must be a veld adapted, medium frame cow which calves each year.  The bull must be a fertile, veld adapted, medium frame bull which must move with ease to mate with the cows.

HISTORY

For the last 30 years we have been farming cattle in the Tweespruit region.  Here, where the Eastern Free State starts, we have a mixed grazing and we had one goal for our commercial herd and that was to breed good weaners. In the process we used a variety of different breed bulls with mixed results.

In 1998 we bought our first Brangus bull, RO95488, at the Hertzogville auction.

This bull's calves were clearly in another class!

In 2001 we selected 25 of our Brangus cows to be inspected,

and we mated them with RO 95488. That was the origin of LE ROC BRANGUS.

With the advent of the mating season for the heifers of our first breeding, we went back to the Hertzogville auction. There we bought our second Brangus bull, MV01589.

This bull really made his mark in our herd and some of his sons and grandsons are still used in our herd.

In the years to follow, we kept on using top genetic bulls and we

also enlarged our female herd.

Today, 20 years later we do our selection from a herd of 800 Brangus cows.  It is this selection criteria that brings us to our mission.
